I have recenlty heard that ISO 19650-1 & ISO 19650-2 will be released by the end of the year and that they are based on the UK PAS 1192 standards.

Any word from the Candian BIM world (CanBIM, Building Smart, tBIMc, etc.) about these?

Will these be adopted?
TOOLS & TECHNOLOGY / Re: Video Cards for Large revit projects

Iím currently using a GeForce GTX 1070, itís a 8gb GDDR5 Card.

Hereís my BIM Station specs:
Processor: i7-7700 @4.20GHz
RAM: 32gb DDR 4
Video: GeForce GTX 1070 8bg GDDR5
Ventilation: Liquid Cooled Ventilation System.

Itís a couple of years old build but performs very well.  For a good overall performance the key itís too keep the temperatures of your processors as low as possible with a very good cooling system.
TOOLS & TECHNOLOGY / Texture Image Information
« Last post by tkienas on July 04, 2018, 01:16:23 pm »
Can the texture Image, jpg/png, be passed thru the IFC?  I know that IFC doesn't have the capability to bring the jpg, or png, image along for the ride.  But, does IFC have the ability to bring the jpg/png name thru a parameter?

Thank you for your time.

WORKFLOW & COLLABORATION / Re: Current M.O. for exchanging information

Hi all.  I think I could summarize Claudia's comment by saying "information exchange is possible, but not easy", which is really a task for software developers to sort out.  Am I right?

IMHO, what we need to help sort it out are "background" technologies, and promote the use of open standards to help that technology.  Things that users never see (in cell phones, that would be the network you're on, the protocol used by the phone to communiate with towers, etc).  The product (the phone in this case) should encompass all those standards to make it easier for us users.

The buildingSMART IFC is one such technology, and "linked data" is another technology.  Linked data is not something you buy and turn on, but something that could be built into an application or data service designed to acquire and share information quickly and efficiently.

I guess the linked data approach may be something relating to API data exchange with tools such as right?
